Limbic Acupuncture is the first clinic in the United States to specialize in Acupuncture for Internet Addiction, Internet Gaming Disorder, Video Game Addiction, Problematic Internet and Video Game use.

What We Do

We treat those struggling with technology use, and their families.

We use Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Coaching, and Support Groups for the management of internet and video gaming addiction, and its secondary side effects. We also provide consultation services.

Acupuncture can nearly double the success rate of psychotherapy. We work alone or with therapists to give our patients and their families every possible advantage in recovery.

When not in the office, we actively promote awareness of internet addiction through community outreach and education programs.

Our Philosophy

We believe in empathy and compassion over restriction and judgement. We went through Video Game Addiction ourselves. We understand the difficulty of technology and screen addiction, the length of process required, and practice the patience needed to help our patients achieve life-long results.

The Research

We are the first clinic in the United States to specialize in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for Internet Addiction.

These techniques have been utilized in China and Korea to address internet addiction for at least a decade. Due to necessity, acupuncture’s success in treating video game addiction is well-researched.

China declared video game addiction a nationwide epidemic in 2008. Since then, both China and Korea have used acupuncture to treat internet addiction.

fMRI studies show Acupuncture has the following benefits:

  • Normalizes brain chemistry caused by addiction.

  • Rebuilds grey matter in the brain damaged by screen use.

  • Has a 91% success rate when paired with therapy, versus 59% for psychotherapy alone.

  • Normalizes blood serum changes caused by video game addiction.

  • Minimizes cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and compulsions to maximize chance of success.

Lower chance of Relapse

Fewer cravings, compulsions, and anxiety means our patients feel better about recovery, sooner-- maybe even from the first treatment. This means a smaller chance of relapse due to frustration and not seeing the positive effects of quitting.

Secondary Issues We Treat

Excessive technology use is linked with many secondary issues. Acupuncture can address these and more:

  • Digestive issues

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Mental dullness

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Sciatica

  • Pain

  • Insomnia
